Thank You Letter - 3 days late?

Post by Anonymous User » Wed Jan 23, 2013 7:16 pm

had an interview several days ago and did not get a chance to send a thank you letter till now. I am aware of the regular pros and cons when its same/next day. Does this shift heavily in favor of not sending one?

Send it, you'll look like a bad ass, they won't be able to resist hiring you.

You should deal with girls the same way, you never want to call back same/next-day.

Probably doesn't matter either way.

If you can't smell the sarcasm, you have bigger things to worry about than this thank you letter.

In all honesty... what looks worse:

1. No response at all.
2. Sending a response a few days after.

#2. No joke, thank you notes aren't required at all and late ones look sloppy.

At this point, I'd lean toward sending one via snail mail. I realize that the Post Office will date-stamp the envelope, but I think a late email seems more off-putting than a later snail mail. Keep it short.

there is no time limit on good manners. If it is a LS that you really want to attend, you would be foolish to pass on the opportunity to keep in contact.

Every single year I swear. No one cares if you write a thank you letter.

Someone might appreciate it. See this post:

edit: does your thank you note advice apply to NYC, i've heard alot of warning against thank you notes that's why i'm asking

Well, we are in the South so a nice thank you is always appropriate and appreciated. It does not need to be long. Just 3-4 sentences.

You're wrong. It has to be by the day after the interview or else it's untimely and looks bad.

I sent thank you letters two months later to my interviewers. I received an offer the day of my interview so I used the thank you letters as a "I look forward to working with you" type deal. I wrote them by hand and sent them snail mail.
