Etiquette regarding contacting firms about existing offer

Postby PriOSky » Tue Jan 15, 2013 10:25 pm

I heard that offers for 1L SA positions don't stay open for long. How should one go about contacting other firms (silent since callbacks) to ask them for decisions? Is emailing them ok? If so, what do people usually write in those emails?

All the firms that I interviewed with explicitly asked me to let them know if I received any offers, and that they'd try to make a decision by the other firm's deadline. I'm in a secondary midwest market.

Do you mind sharing which market? OH? MN? MI? WI?

Sorry, not sure on the answer on this one, but I thought I'd say that this is something that is perfect to contact your career services office to ask. Not only is it a question they absolutely should know the answer to, but they probably have regular contact with the firms in your area and have spoken to them about how they feel about these kinds of situations.

Just email them.
