Question for Clerks

Postby Anonymous User » Wed Jan 09, 2013 7:19 am

I've read somewhere on TLS that as a second-year federal clerk you get a pay bump after you've passed the bar. I just wanted to clarify - Does the pay bump require bar passage or is the requirement only that you work as a clerk for one year?

It's more than just bar passage; you have to be admitted to the bar. In New York, this means getting your C&F documents together in short order so that you're not stuck waiting forever to be sworn in.

Oh, right, sorry; I always just equate the two (but in my state after you pass just have to sit through a 6-hr ethics CLE and turn in another form, so they are pretty much the same).
