Exactly. There's no reason to keep it checked out for days if someone forgets to close it; the system should just automatically track changes by user and allow you to revert to older versions. But our system is ancient. Also it has weird issues with saving and people lose work frequently enough that it's a problem. But we use a pretty outdated version of DM, so that may be the reason.
