Tax Return from NY BigLaw
Curious as to whether anyone knows how much of a tax return we might expect. I paid taxes of ~$11, 800 on $31,000 and believe I am eligible for the lifetime learning credit.

You have to fill out a return to get a refund. Anyway, turbotax has a free online calculator that will estimate your refund in a minute or so: http://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/ca ... taxcaster/Anonymous User wrote:Curious as to whether anyone knows how much of a tax return we might expect. There is a thread somewhere on this forum with Excel pictures calculating tax refunds for NYC SAs. I can't find the thread, though. I want to say the refund is $6-$8K.

6-8K sounds right. There are a lot of individual factors, but that's about where it'll wind up for most people in major markets without other substantial gains or losses.
