NLJP 250 firms on the Up or Down

Postby Anonymous User » Fri Oct 19, 2012 4:57 pm

I accepted an offer from a larger firm and was curious as to what firms in the NLJP 250, or more specifically the top 150 or firms that seemed to be on a path up and others that seemed to be on their way down. Myself and a few classmates were nervous about accepting some offers at certain firms for fear that the no offer rate may unkind to some of the SA's.

This is the sort of question that serves no purpose other than to drive yourself crazy.

At this point accept that in every at-will job you ever have you could be fired/riffed/laid off/etc. at any point. The best thing you can do is prepare yourself the softest landing possible. As a 2L that includes keeping your grades up, continuing to network, getting to know your professors. Once you are a summer, that means networking within the firm and doing really good work with a really good attitude. If you do these things and it turns out you drew short-straw when you picked the firm, you should be in a good position to move on with little to no career damage. Do not wait until you are no-offered/asked to leave to prepare for what's next.
