Dept. of the Interior Honors Program 2013

Post by Anonymous User » Fri Oct 19, 2012 4:19 pm

Since I haven't seen a thread specific to this one... Anyone heard anything? I'm thinking I'm out of the running by now, but thought I'd check here.

got a notice from USAJobs saying I wasn't referred further or something. this came after the initial notice that I met the basic requirements and would be referred to recruiting.

I haven't heard anything. I applied thru USAJobs in August. Never received a referred further or meeting basic requirements email that above poster mentions. So perhaps I am out of the running too.

Stats:
School: top 25
Rank: top 15%
Previous work experience/non-traditional student not related to DOI
Summer internships with state AG and DOJ (split)

Did you sign up on usajobs.gov to be notified when your status changed? I had notices that my application status was "reviewing applications" and then "application referred to selecting official," but they were via usajobs, not from DOI directly. Haven't heard anything from DOI itself.

I haven't heard anything yet either. I did not request notification from USAjobs and have not been contacted by DOI.

I checked on USAjobs and my application status says "Application status not available." Is anyone else getting this?

Weird! My application status still shows up (same as it ever was).

Looks like last year DOI sent rejection emails on October 27, at least according to this thread: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 0&start=25. And it sounds like that was just the initial round of rejections. A poster on the same thread wrote that on November 30 DOI selected 16 interviewees and sent another round of rejections.

Has anyone heard anything? My status still reads "Application Referred to Selecting Official."

Aaaaaaaand I just got an e-mail rejection. Dammit, I really thought I had relevant experience that gave me a shot at this. But the e-mail said they had over 1000 applicants for 4 spots, so that was probably unrealistic. Onward to the next thing...

The sad thing about the state of affairs these days is that at least I'm glad to have received a rejection, and know where I stand, rather than be left to continually wonder. Like some employers do.

Did your status ever read differently? I think this may mean you didn't complete your application. :| I ran into this status when I was trying to submit my application. I had completed the portion on USAJobs, but not the portion on the Solicitor's site. I found websites online saying that this status meant that I may not have completed my application (http://www.hhs.gov/asa/ohr/applicant_status_script.pdf). Once I completed the portion on the Solicitor's site, my status was updated.
