Important but potential stupid question about clerking

Do you have to take the bar exam of the state that you're clerking in if its only a 1 year clerkship? No snarky remarks please.

No, but I believe I've seen a few OSCAR entries for judges that want you to do so.

I don't even think you need to for a two-year, but you get the JSP bump in your second year if you've passed any bar exam (assuming you're talking about federal).

No, you don't have to. Some judges want you take the bar in their state, others just want you to have taken a bar, others don't care. (I think as much as anything else, the ones who want you to have taken the bar already don't want you taking time away from the job to study/take a bar exam during your term.)
