Can we assume that final decisions are still being made and more rejections will follow? I imagine that they would make offers to the remaining people if they had decided to whom they were extending offers. Is there any chance that they will make additional offers in the spring? And does the Chairman need to do a pro forma approval on the candidates that OGC selects?

Thanks for your information, although you could just be yanking our chains. :) At this point I am totally consumed with the outcome -- either way -- although I really really want this job. Decide, deciders!

Also, are you quite certain there have been zero offers?

You guys are aware that there is a fiscal cliff, right? If the government thinks its budget will be slashed, hiring will go kaput. Hope that helps.

It's my understanding that they have authority to hire 2-3 people regardless of the sequester. If they had authority to hire more they would hire 5-7. This is solely based on my interview. It's also my understanding (via this board) that the majority of honors programs are currently making offers and the FCC has made none. There are 2-3 of us here that have not been rejected but have not received an offer.

I think the timing reflects different approach to dealing with the threat of the fiscal cliff. I would have thought they would have made offers a week or two ago, but who knows with government.

at this point, i doubt we can realistically expect anything before the new year. i personally am moving from anxious to meh. meh being i give up waiting but i would still take the offer (obviously) but now that i'm done with exams i don't feel the need to procrastinate via obsession.

Meh (double meh? Give up?): no. Not surprising as the sequester hasn't actually been resolved. I have very little hope on anything positive (because now the sequester is tied with the debt ceiling). I think we are screwed.

i don't have any grades back yet. perhaps an expression of continued interest might prod them a little to at least say sequester blah blah blah can't extend offers blah you're screwed, blah blah. we all know the issue is because of the sequester at this point, but i think a little communication is warranted at this stage. IMO it is making the fcc honors program look somewhat crappy (whereas previously i had a really great opinion of it).

i am still very curious as to whether ANY offers have been made and we're the alternates, or if zero offers have been made.

meh meh meh.

Just saw this thread. A friend of mine told me that they got an offer from the FCC for the honors program before the end of last semester. Apparently they had only made a couple of offers. No idea if they plan to make more.

Hi everyone, I happen to know that the FCC has made (at least its first round of) offers. My friend was extended an offer last week and I know that other offers went out as well. Hope this relieves some of you. Happy new year.

I am back to beat this dead horse. Wondering if anyone had any updated info - offers accepted/not accepted, additional rejections, etc. I have confirmed with FCC that I am still waiting on a decision.

After my interview last week for the most boring job in the world, praying for this one to come through.

I had posted on this forum a few weeks ago (I don't post very often). Still waiting on one more grade, but I sent Kim Mattos a letter of continued interest and a copy of my updated transcript last week. As I haven't gotten a rejection letter yet (I'm in DC), I'm still holding out some hope that maybe they'll make an additional offer or two. I'll pass along any pertinent information that I hear from Kim.
Good luck to anyone still waiting to hear back.

did you see the post on the DOL honors board? that they are just now making offers, or making their second round or whatever, by the end of next week?

sent in my final transcript earlier this week after sending in the updated one last week. i think i used up all my pinging so if anyone hears anything, please post.

meh

i just now finally got rejected via email. not surprising, as the FCC has tons of hires they can't do anything with because of the sequester.
