FWIW - EOIR/OCIJ, accepted offer Nov. 29 (previously reported here), received an email yesterday with the first step of my background check.

has anyone heard anything from US Attorney's offices? There were two early mentions of Chicago and Arizona, then nothing.
Anyone else get an offer or get selected as a finalist?

Does anyone know the significance (or lack thereof) of reference checking for OCIJ? References checked before thanksgiving, wondering if I'm an alternate. Likely yes, but certainty is blessed.

Mine were checked before thanksgiving and I recently received an offer so until Jan I think there's a possibility that you could get a first choice offer.

OCIJ offer this morning. They were waiting to hear back from one of my references. Got the call right after they did. Seems like the EOIR offers are still rolling in. Good luck to everyone!

Yep, email from "mail@avue..." and status changed to "Not Selected as Finalist."

Do they ever post who ultimately got the positions for the litigation components? I'd be curious to know where people come from.

Someone said that abovethelaw might, but I didn't find anything...

I don't think DOJ posts that anywhere... I've seen law schools do puff pieces on their websites about Amazing Grad X, who got a Civil Rights position (or whatever), but it's very hit-or-miss.

Offer today from Antitrust-DC...someone must have turned them down from their first round around Thanksgiving! My status had changed to "Finalist" about a month ago.

+1. Just wondering when I should schedule my why-did-I-get-my-hopes-up day of mourning.

EOIR-OCIJ finalist #1: Received an offer yesterday. Mid-Atlantic region first choice court. References were contacted last week.

First round offers are still going out. Easier said than done, I know, but be patient.

Also, I believe the deadline for first round offer acceptance is December 30 (the email has to be received by that date). Hopefully that will give a more precise timeframe for alternate offers.

FYI - there's a new thread under Legal Employment for 2013 DOJ EOIR/OCIJ clerks who have received and accepted offers: DOJ EOIR OCIJ Class of 2013.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
