I know this is a topic that has been fairly well covered. My situation, however, is a little unique, so I wanted to ask for thoughts.
I am interested in pursuing a career in the government in the future. I am familiar with the normal policies regarding previous drug use.
A few days before classes began, I had a few too many and smoked marijuana (like 2-3 hits). Now, my question is, does this technically count as "during law school"? No other substance use during law school career (tobacco/alcohol/drugs all included).
I apologize if this is a silly question. I know what I did was stupid (espeically because I was drunk and really could not make the decision in an informed way), but I hope it will not be too detrimental to my career.
Thoughts?

Re: Government Employment/ Previous Drug Use
You should be fine (at least with DOJ components). Disclose it on the form and/or questionnaire, add an explanatory form (but don't say you were too drunk to make an informed decision) and say that it was basically a one-time thing, totally experimental, and not something habitual.Anonymous User wrote:I know this is a topic that has been fairly well covered. you didn't smoke "during law school," so you can honestly answer "no" to the question.

No. But I think feds will ask you going back 3 / 7 / 10 years, not "during law school."
