I'll be compiling the stats into more useful groupings in a few months once most people have completed the process.

I've struck out with all the firms I interviewed with for 2L OCI. What are my best options from here? I really would like to work at a biglaw firm so does anyone have any advice on how to pursue this goal when I will probably not be an SA anywhere this year?

A little background, I actually worked at a biglaw firm after my 1L summer and got good reviews but was no offered due to a pretty bad grade drop from my first to second semester 1L. They said they would like me to reconnect with them next year if my grades improve but I do not know how serious that offer is... But obviously I'll be busting my butt this year to bring up the old gpa.

If it matters, I go to a school in the top 16 that is the major school for the region I plan to work in.

School: mvp
Market: nyc/dc
Approximate class rank: just below median
Law Review: No
Work Experience: yes, 2 yrs
IP: No
Anything else: athletic/social, somewhat unique work experience which helped a lot with interviews
Screening interviews: 26
Callbacks received: 6
Callbacks accepted: 5
Offers: 2 v60s, 1 v100, 1 mid-sized
Accepted: v60 (dc) pretty happy considering my grades were not hot.
Thank you notes: no, but wrote super nice emails to all the legal recruiters.
Notes: hit the home market hard and sell yourself/be super aggressive for nyc interviews, they seemed a lot more intense. i think it helps to pitch a very specific area of the law, gives you a good narrative for interviews.

School: Top 30 (Iowa)
Market: Chicago/DC/MN
Approximate class rank: Bottom third
Law Review: No; secondary journal
Work Experience: 2-3 years
IP: yes
Anything else: excellent interviewer; wrote a memo (seperate from Legal Writing classes) specifically to use as a writing sample at the Loyola Patent Fair. It was the reason I was called in for an interview with the firm I eventually accepted an offer too; graduate degree
Screening interviews: OCI: 10; Loyola Patent Fair: 8
Callbacks received: OCI: 2; Loyola Patent Fair: 3
Callbacks accepted: all
Offers: 2 (top IP firm as listed by Vault in DC and smaller IP firm in Minneapolis)
Accepted: accepted DC firm offer
Thank you notes: yes, all emails though, not letters

Notes: Thing is to seperate yourself from everyone else regardless of your grades/experience. Bottom line is to be aware of your options. If you are looking for a large general practice firm, even in IP grades matter more than anything...regardless of what they tell you.

However, grades only matter in getting your first job. If you are not where you want to be a the end of 3L year, a smaller firm will hire you and after 2-3 years you can lateral into a better position. Most attorneys I talked to said they don't even look at grades when considering laterals. Hope this helps.

Results have essentially come to halt at this point (1 every couple days). With the semester ending I'm busy at the moment but I'll start breaking down the data into useful charts probably some time next month.

School: T30 (Part time student)
Rank: Just under 33%
Target Markets: NYC (primary), LA, London, Hong Kong
WE: 2.5 years biotech/pharma, 4 years bulge bracket IB
IP: Yes
Law Review: Secondary with note.
Mass Mail Applications: 80?
CBs offered from mass mail: 3
OCI Screener Interviews offered: 13
OCI Screeners Accepted: 13
Firms approached at OCI:20
CB from OCI: 2
Total CB offered: 5
CB Accepted: 5
Never heard back from ~60 mass mail and 10 OCI
Offers: 1 (V30) thus far
Accepted:
Notes: Non-URM Male. Alumni help, don't give up, my offer came in November. I over committed to IP I think, under the impression that it would help me overcome grades. Pure IP shops almost always had someone who didn't like that I had left research to go to Wall Street. Also I didn't mass mail until late October because I had a lot of firms not get back to me from OCI until October. Probably would have done better if I mailed earlier as several other firms said they would have liked to call me back if they weren't already done with recruiting. Went against career services advice in my bidding for my grades because as a part time student working in IB, it would make no sense to go to somewhere paying under market, does mean that I overbid for my grades and ended up with a few rejections saying that they liked me but wanted better grades.
Thank You Notes: People who gave me their cards, or wanted me to get back to them or asked me to ask more questions via email.

School: T20 (Transfer student)
Rank: Top 10% at T2 prior to transfer
Target Markets: Philadelphia, NJ, NY, DC (did not end up in any of these target markets)
WE: 1L SA
IP: Yes
Law Review: Didn't bother.
Mass Mail Applications: 100+?
CBs offered from mass mail: 2
OCI Screener Interviews offered: 14
OCI Screeners Accepted: 14
CB from OCI: 2
Total CB offered: 4
CB Accepted: 4
Offers: 1 - NLJ 250 firm in the secondary market from the school I transferred from (surprised I got an offer after leaving that school).
Accepted: 1
Notes: White male. I am very surprised that I was able to get an offer from the firm I will be summering at. I had an interview with them the prior year as a 1L and really enjoyed it (ended up accepting another offer, though). I guess the firm really liked me a lot since they brought me right in for a callback this year. I originally had no intentions of going back to that area, but I'm pretty happy with how this all worked out. I am a rare case of getting an offer from an area where I transferred OUT of.

School: T20 (UT/Vanderbilt/UCLA)
Rank: Median
Target Markets: NY, FL, DC
WE: 2 years
IP: No
Law Review: Yes
Mass Mail Applications: 500-550
CBs offered from mass mail: 1
OCI Screener Interviews offered: 16
OCI Screeners Accepted: 16
CB from OCI: 0
Total CB offered: 1
CB Accepted: 1
Dings (post CB): 0
Offers: 1
Accepted: Non Vault NLJ 250 in S. FL.
Notes:

Well, I was median at a T20. Generally felt myself to be a good interviewee, and connected with many of my interviewers, but I think I got dinged at screeners because of mediocre grades. Once I finally got a callback, I managed to convert that into an offer. I wish more firms would have given me a chance and given me a callback, but it is what it is. I feel happy that I'm at least working at a larger firm, things could be much much worse.

Also felt that law review gave me almost no boost. I was obviously a write on, but only one person I interviewed with even mentioned it.

Thank You Notes: No.

School: MVP transfer
Market: NY/DC/Philly
Approximate class rank: #1 at T2 school
Law Review: secondary
Work Experience: Prior legal
IP: No
Screening interviews: 27 at OCI, 2 from mass mail, 1 from resume collect
Callbacks recieved: 2 from OCI (V20 and V30), 6 from mass mail/resume collect (V5, V100, 2 midlaw, V20, V50)
Callbacks accepted: 8
Offers: 1 midlaw
Accepted: 1 midlaw
Thank you notes: Yes towards the end
Notes: I clearly underperformed for my numbers - I was getting callbacks from very competitive firms all the way through November. Only offer is midlaw outside of my target market. Not happy with how it turned out - I deeply regret the transferring.

Adding this late, but since it doesn't look like the list has been compiled yet, I thought I'd go ahead.

School: T20
Market: Midwest
Approximate class rank: Top 20%
Law Review: Secondary
Work Experience: RA and internship 1L summer
IP: No
Screening interviews: 14 at OCI, 3 from non-OCI postings
Callbacks recieved: 4 from OCI, 1 from non-OCI postings
Callbacks accepted: 5
Offers: 2
Accepted: Midlaw, 200+ lawyer firm
Thank you notes: Yes, throughout the process. Mine were all handwritten, FWIW.
Note: I didn't wait to hear back from my last callback before accepting the position I wanted. The interviews went well, but I realized that even if I got an offer from them, I would turn it down, as the firm where I accepted was my top choice throughout the process.

Would anyone care to elaborate on this? I will definitely be gunning for Chi/midwest secondary for my OCI next fall (good ties), but I was still thinking of bidding NYC (no ties) since I would rather be employed there than unemployed in my market of choice. Seeing these anecdotes gives me a little pause on that plan, though. Pretty solid grades so far (mid/lower T14, top 15-20% or so), but obviously 1L isn't done yet. Wondering if I should just focus on midwest jobs to increase my chances there, if I can maintain or improve my current rank.
