NYS Appellate 3rd Dept. is interviewing 60 people for 8 spots, and the 4th Dept. is interviewing 80 people for 8 spots. Second interview offers for the 3rd Dept. should be going out by early next week at the latest.

Anybody want to provide the final word (if you have solid 411) on where NJ clerkship availability? I have been told by someone at my law school's Career Services that they are hiring, but the source of that news is two links that might only reflect general annual hiring plan and availability. See:

My hunch was that, other than trial judges at NJ, the clerkship bus had left the station. Am I correct (again, if you know with some amount of certainty beyond rumor)?

thanks!

Your hunch would be correct. Moreover, I would say a large amount (possibly majority) of trial judges have begun their hiring process. I was dinged from one, and I am waiting to hear from 3 judges I previously interviewed with. I also have one on Monday.

How do you know this, outside of extrapolation from being dinged from trial judges?

Just trying to get the proper source here so I can give my career services person some solid info. (they are thinking of posting the NJ Courts on the school's online job board...

From other students word-of-mouth. Because there is no clear centralized process (that resume dump is misleading), a lot of information is piecemeal.

Had an initial round interview - havent heard since. I think their process usually drags out much longer than most intermediate courts.

Nothing. I assume since Dickson sent a confirmation of receipt later that at least his chambers would send a rejection one as well...

Is it safe it assume that the NJ Appellate Division has completed hiring?
My CSO couldn't provide me with where they were generally in the process or how helpful it was in pulling down a firm job.

I have heard some Justices at the Wisconsin Supreme Court are doing interviews over the next couple of weeks.

They interviewed for their clerks a long time, I thought. I know I got some rejection letters some time ago.

^^^ Some did but not all. I can confirm at least one Justice is scheduling interviews in the middle of March.

Can 3Ls who were applying this year list what states they applied? I am trying to figure out which state courts have a clerkship program and which state courts don't. For example, I don't think CA Supreme Court has a formal clerkship program.

Look at the Vermont Law School clerkship guide. Your career office has the password (ours posts it on the opening page of symplicity so you don't even have to talk to anyone to get it). It will have all the information you could ever want on state clerkships (including that California doesn't hire term clerks. Though I think I've seen someone here post that Justice Liu on the SSC is an exception, but I have no idea if that's true).
