My grades are OK, but not great, but there is a strong upward trend in substantive classes during 2L. Should I tackle that directly in my interview? Just say something like "I know my grades are probably below what you like to see, but..." and give an explanation? Or should I just let it be?
Let it be. Let the judge raise the issue and don't point it out any more than you may have already in an addendum or anything else. Emphasize your strengths.
Thanks. A follow-up question. My connection is fairly tenuous. He wouldn't recognize me at a party, but he knows the family name. Am I correct in assuming that he saw something he liked in my application, otherwise he wouldn't bother with the interview? It's not as if we are best friends or anything, and no one would be upset if he passed me over for an interview.
