Re: Judge Henderson - she typically only hires from a small handful of schools and has a certain type that she hires. Plus, she only has 2 term clerks. Thus, I would strongly assume that she has already made calls (like she has in years past).

Re: Judge Kleinfeld - he has a very long interview process and the people I know who were interviewing with him started their interviews with him back in April.

Re: Judge Benavides - I heard that he was taking a fairly reduced load. Also, in years past, he has hired off-plan in May.

Re: Judge Wynn - I thought he was looking at alumni back in the spring.

Re: Judge Martin - I thought he already hired over the early summer.

Re: Judge Stranch - I thought she hired during the middle of the summer.

Re: Judge Carnes - he might have an open slot as chief, but he usually hires in April-May.

Judge Henderson has definitely made calls already. Source: of of the applicants she will be interviewing this week.

NOTE: this opinion is limited to competitive CoA (i.e. DC, 2nd Cir., etc.) and D. Cts. (i.e. SDNY, DDC, CDCA, etc.); I don't know if my opinions expressed in this post apply to flyover district court judges or magistrates.

I personally don't know if it is possible to get an interview nowadays (at either the CoA or a competitive D. Ct.) if the judge doesn't at least receive some sort of call from one of your professors. Of course I'm pretty sure if you are EIC of the Yale Law Journal, you probably won't need anyone to make calls and your applications automatically jumps to the top of the pile. But almost everyone else, even top 5% at a T6 will need someone to call the judge to have almost any chance at an interview.

Yeah, this is total bullshit.

Seconded. My experience this week directly contradicts this.

Unless I missed something to the contrary, there's been a conspicuous silence re Lamberth.

FYI clerkship calls are still being made. I have it on very good information that a D. Conn. judge just started making his calls this morning.

Anyone know about Judge Daughtrey (6th Cir)? She was on the list that hadn't called and then removed but nobody has specifically mentioned hearing from her.

Why do people post blatantly inaccurate stuff like that?

In order to boast. The poster was basically showing off his/her clearly great connections since, you know, professors were just sitting by the phone all day to make calls for him/her.

Ninth: Kleinfeld, Schroeder, Gould, Tashima, Rawlinson
Tenth: Porfilio
Eleventh: Hull, Kravitch, Barkett, Carnes, Fay

Her Oscar profile indicates Judge Daughtrey is done hiring for 2013-2014.

I've been following this thread and haven't seen anything on Lynch or Straub on the Second Circuit in NYC -- any info for them?

You can take Wynn and Gould off this list.

Yeah, one person said he's already hired at least 1 person off-plan and someone else claimed chambers said he wasn't reviewing apps until later in the fall. Maybe he filled 1 or 2 spots w/ alumni but still has at least a spot open for which he'll review later on?
