Rank: Top 20%
Journal: Board of a Secondary
Applying to: District Court judges near where I want to live. I sent out quite literally only 7 or 8 applications.

Applying as a 3L
School: West Coast T2, top 20 undergrad
Rank: Top 11%
Journal: LR Board
Applying to about 150 judges, pretty much anywhere I don't mind living (but not NY or DC because I don't think my stats are competitive enough)

We should anonymously update this page if/when we start hearing from judges. It would be nice to know who is making calls and scheduling interviews.

Applying as a 3L
School: Lower T14, transferred from T25 after 1L
Rank: Top 5%
Journal: None (never applied), but writing-related honors and experience that I hope will make up for it.
Applying to: About 70 judges, split evenly b/t COA and District Court judges, based more on my feelings about the judge than location.

Not entirely sure what to expect with my unorthodox resume.

Great thread idea -- can I suggest that we all go back and edit our original posts with updates so that this stays somewhat orderly and we all know which applicant (with what stats) is getting calls/offers?

Applying as 3L
School: T20
Rank: Top 10%
LR, no board, no note published
Applying to: About 150 D. Ct. and Mags across the country.

Credited.

For everyone in this thread, please, please, please go back and edit your original post to indicate any offers, etc. Feel free to update at the bottom of the thread so we can see things as they progress, but putting it in your initial post as well will save some time for those trying to get a sense of each applicants' success.

I'll be lucky to get any interviews, but what's the general protocol for Friday? Answer the phone if it rings, or let it go to voicemail and call back later to schedule an interview?

3L
School: Emory (no need to be coy because other info identifies the school)
Rank: this would totally out me if I put a number, but competitive for district court clerkships
LR: Bankruptcy journal
Applying to bankruptcy courts up and down the east coast with a few district court apps thrown in. My understanding is that our journal members get a pretty big boost with BK clerkships. I hope that's true.

No standard advice. Goal should be to schedule your most desired positions as soon as possible. If you are a fringe candidate, that means answering right away. If you are a lock candidate, it means letting some go to voicemail while you wait for the 202 area code to show up.

I want to know this too. On one hand I want to answer/schedule interview right away (it could be my only one), but if I schedule one a thousand miles away and then get a call 10 min later asking for an interview in my hometown ill feel like a moron.

Given that we seem to be (at least if I remember your stats correctly from other threads) candidates who are like 50/50 to end up with something ArtIII, I think it makes sense for us to answer and schedule immediately. Hopefully we end up with the awesome problem you mentioned.

Any idea how competitive non-Delaware / SDNY BK judges are, or magistrate judges?

Depends on how competitive you are. If you're going to be reaching for one interview, pick up the phone on ring one. If you probably will have several or lots of calls, you can try to screen for an area code that you prefer. But don't screen for too long, because some judges move on quickly.

Why so few apps? Do you only want to clerk in one market?

Anyone willing to divulge what district (or state?) the already calling judges are?

(Would love a PM if you don't want to make it public.)
