i think it'd depend on your tolerance, how much you drank, and whether you used mouthwash/gum after to cover the smell

i really see nothing wrong with a glass of wine beforehand if it won't affect you

If you have anxiety issues, might it be a better idea to see a doctor?

i don't know what issues i have.

i don't think i'm presenting my best self to employers. I'm either enthusiastic and anxious or relaxed and apathetic. I can't find the right middle-ground. i'm doing ok with callbacks/interviews but i feel like i'm underperforming my numbers. which sucks because i worked my ass off 1L.

I'm not sure how slamming a shot before an interview is going to help that situation, namely because I'm not sure how slamming a shot (or drinking a Beck's or a dram of Lagavulin, if you've been following another thread) is going to help you present your best self to employers.

I like to have a drink before interviews. Relaxes me a bit and I get a bit more chatty. Just drinks some water, brush your teeth after, and limit it to one drink only.

If they can't tell, why not? I had a girlfriend that would take a shot and a half before giving speeches. She enthusiastically recommended it for shy people.

Only to keep a hangover away.

Anything to take away the shakes.

In all seriousness, I'd keep it to yourself, but I've heard of far more crazy and self-destructive behaviors than doing a single drink before OGI. Just make sure you brush your teeth or something so you don't greet your interviewer with a blast of scotch or PBR.

Eh, alcohol is too unpredictable. Might I instead recommend an adderall or other stimulant of your choice?

This is what my language instructors told me at DLI the day before my speaking test.

OP, this really depends on what time the interview is. I don't see a problem with having a drink at lunch before a afternoon interview, but I would not do this for a 9am interview.

That goes back to my suggestion that the OP see a doctor to determine if there's an anxiety, or in this case attention, issue. Either that, or you could be suggesting that the OP commit a crime.

If OP is not prescribed medicine for ADHD, the alternative caffeine is perfectly legal.

I could be wrong, but something tells me that OP isn't going to benefit from a quadruple shot of espresso, at least in this instance.

Alright, fine: alcohol + stimulants until they've balanced each other out.

... so you're saying that OP should act like they're in the fine month of FebClub. That works.
