What to put in the cover letter for 3L mass mailings?
I have a V50 SA but I'm trying to trade up to a firm with a better corporate practice than that of my firm. My grades drastically improved in 2L. What/how much do I need to say in the cover letter?

The form and content of a cover letter won't change much just because you are applying for a 3L job instead of a 2L job.

Really? My OCS dean told me 3L mailing cover letters don't need to go through the same stuff as a 1L or 2L one (like "I believe I would be a great fit for your firm because I took these classes and have this experience")

I dunno. But I would replace "drastically improved" with "dramatically improved".

I changed my opening line from "applying for a summer associate position" to " applying for a permanent position." I also changed mine to emphasize some of the stuff I have done over 2L that's more awesome than stuff I did over 1L. Other than that, not much need be different.

Haha, I'm not actually going to write that in the cover letter. It'll be apparent enough when they see the transcript.

What classes did you take 2L that you did well in? It's one thing to rock admin law and quite another thing to rock a bird law seminar.

Do firms actually look at that? I rocked pretty substantive classes for my improvement.
