I got the Simpson NY ding email last week. Might be a good sign that you're not auto-ding and maybe on a sort of waitlist.
But they did send out a wave of callbacks already, right?
Yeah, I've heard of Simpson CB's. Not saying you necessarily are on some sort of waitlist, but I've talked to career services and there definitely are "bubble" candidates for firms; it really isn't ALWAYS either instant CB or a ding. As an anecdote, I got some good news earlier today even after conventional wisdom would have said that since CB's went out already, I was likely to be dinged. So don't be too optimistic, but definitely don't lose hope.

I am in the mysterious "maybe/forgotten to ding/waitlist?" realm for NINE nyc firms... nine.

I looked on last years OCI thread and didnt see too much movement reported.... one person posted a CB 2 weeks after screener for major NY firm.

Any dings from Dechert, Proskauer, or Milbank?
I've heard of CBs for Proskauer and Dechert, but haven't heard of any dings.

In the same boat for 6 (think). With the exception of shearman, which I don't think has gotten back to anyone, I think dings are in bound. If there is a waitlist that might be nice but when would they know they need to call more people in? Like end of sept. when people turn down their offers...

(same poster as first quoted) I think so. If I get an offer somewhere I would go, I might call some of these firms to check up. I hope I get an offer..

Well, this is agonizing. Was hoping some news would come my way today. On the bright side, I suppose I have a 5 day weekend to look forward to.

NY is going to ding you if no CB within 4 business days. We didn't report because the letters will come 2-3 weeks after OCI.

Not true. I had a NY CB a week after the interview and another one over 2 weeks after the interview. They're more rare, but they happen.

Heard of Morgan Lewis NY dings yesterday

Any confirmed dings from Seward and Kissel? I know CBs already went out last week

Any word of either dings or callbacks from Bracewell NY or Drinker Biddle?

Do DC firms generally take longer to get back? I haven't heard much about CB or dings from those offices. I've basically abandoned all hope anyway.

I am a bit confused. It seems like the same 20 or so people are getting most of the cbs--so how does this process work? If all the firms fight over those same people, shouldn't they also have to cb some "bubble" candidates? Is this exactly like law school admissions without the standardizing force of the LSAT? The same 20 stars from every top 14 school can't populate the SA classes of all the big firms....can they?

Question for the 3Ls: it seems like a lot of your class got firm jobs. If people didn't get offers via OCI, how did they get them? Admittedly, I don't know everyone in my class but it seems that a lot of people are sitting on few, if any, callbacks. What are the next steps if you still want a firm job? Was our class just especially bad at bidding and now completely fucked?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
