any words of wisdom?
Have tons of questions! Even if you don't think they are good. Just to keep conversation flowing. At almost all of my interviews the person started out asking what questions I had for them.
Also, I got asked a lot of questions about:
-why a big law firm versus mid or small law firm
-a lot of why this firm - in almost every interview
-i got asked twice why i wanted law in such a bad economic climate lol
-i got asked if i knew what i was getting myself into with a big firm
-i also got this: "the best lawyers i know have some real grit. we can hire anyone we want with good grades and credentials like yourself, but i found that i want to hire people who have really gone through something hard in their lives and came out the other side for the better. what kind of experiences have you had like this?" (i have a totally vanilla and boring life so this was extremely hard for me to answer)

okay, so now tell me this person is ranked #1 and has amazing WE so I don't have to blame my mediocre personality for not getting similar results 8)

Quick topic change?

Are some journals considered more "prestigious" than others at the school? Was just curious if some SF firms look at some journals more highly than others (foregoing HLJ of course).

For everybody who has one or more CBs scheduled already, how many screener interviews did you go to?

I'm trying to measure my level of fail here.

Based on my and friends' experience, they don't really care at all.

I think this is mostly right, although from what I have been able to pick up CLQ may have a very slight edge over the rest of the journals simply because of how long it has been around, the nature of its content, and that it has a pretty decent sized alumni network in the Bay Area.

Just my opinion, but I would say it's: HLJ >>>>>>>>> CLQ > Rest of journals.

If you are choosing among the secondary journals (i.e., didn't get into HLJ) and if you're interested in technology, the Internet, patents, copyrights, trademarks and stuff like that, join STLJ (Science and Tech Journal). Participating in activities that fit your interest will show your dedication to the field.

I agree with this. Also, HLJ isn't as big of a boost as I thought. I know someone who has good but not great grades, and is on a secondary journal, and has 8+ call backs. This person has really good relevant WE (not IP related), which totally trumps not being on HLJ or being top 15% I guess.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
