If he made it seem like you weren't getting an interview, you might have gotten sad and it wouldn't have been as enjoyable a day for him. This way, he got everyone to leave smiling and they didn't find out about the rejection until he was long gone.

friendliness/cb flirting is fine and acceptable, telling someone "I'm recommending you for a cb" and then not doing so is just unprofessional.

It's unprofessional, but no one will ever call them on it. I had one screener asked why I checked the diversity box on an app because "You look like a plain old white guy like me." I explained to him that I had a non-obvious physical disability. Told my CSO after the interview and they said to just shrug it off. Same firm was back at EIW this year, suite and all.

While this totally sucks, the person made it clear they don't have the authority to call you back of their own volition (by saying they were going to recommend you). They recommended you and the firm hiring committee or whoever went for someone else. I had this happen to me, and it sucks, but... what can you do?

I think Hogan is doing some screeners in the office this week. So maybe that's reason for delay.

Given that today seems like it was mostly silence for everyone, does anyone have an idea from when we will hear back from the majority of DC firms? The end of the week, maybe?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
