GULC 2012 EIW
Last couple of years GULCers have shared the triumphs and tragedies of EIW. To that end, and in the interest of sharing relevant data to make sense out of that which makes no sense, would suggest sharing whatever information you're comfortable with from the following (feel free to copy/paste into your reply post):
Approximate class rank: (top 10%, top 15%, top 33%, above median, median, below median)
Journal: (which one)
Moot Court, Beaudry, etc.: (which one/s)
IP backbround: Yes/No
Significant work experience: (broadly defined as anything relevant to corporate America/business/finance/accounting/tax/paralegal/etc.) Yes/No is enough
Years out of undergrad: (if more than 2, just 2+ is fine to prevent outing)
Prestigious undergrad: Yes/No/Locally
Other relevant factors (e.g., URM, LBGT, age/prior life experience, military):
Target markets:
Type of work sought: Corporate/Litigation/Doesn't matter
Self-assessed interviewing ability: (great/good/normal/below normal/far below normal)
Screeners or callbacks prior to EIW from mass-mailing: (if yes, how many, what type of firm, etc.)
Screeners received for EIW: (just the number)
Callbacks received from EIW screeners: (just the number, and if you would, Vault ranking if applicable, i.e., V25, V50, and two non-Vault firms; market/city if comfortable listing)

Career Services told me typically you receive 7-9 interviews on the low end and 11-13 on the high end. Is this information accurate?

I got 18 last year through the lottery + 2 through the open sign-up + others through shadow schedules. People only get 7-9 if they have ignore the stats OCS gives you last year's bids.

The bid ratio was one of the three main metrics I used. My goal was to hit 20. I received about 17-18 last year, forget which. I got a bunch through bidding and then snagged up a few when there was that open sign-up period. Very unlikely that you'll hit 20+ through EIW bidding + open sign-up period. I considered myself pretty lucky. Good luck, though.

Goal was 20, but OCS said to feel lucky if you get close to 15. 17-18 would be great.

Can we add some diversity measures to the list?
URM, LBGT, age/prior life experience, military...
I'd be particularly interested in seeing how LGBT folks do, as there is not much data on how firms "recruit" for that. For URMs, there are emails through APALSA, BLSA, LALSA, etc, but I don't recall getting anything through OutLaw, and the diversity receptions I've been to have been largely focused on racial diversity.
And yeah. OCS said that around 10-11 is average; diversifying markets increases that number while being very choosy about location decreases it. I'm expecting 4-6 myself since there's only one market I'm willing to be in for various personal reasons.

Right -- this is exactly why I think it would be helpful to have this info.
Even though LGBT "counts" for the diversity resume collect, that won't make a difference if employers aren't looking for that type of diversity. So with enough data points, maybe we can suss out a trend one way or the other.
Also, can someone explain how the resume collects go? Is it (1) after the deadline, all of the submitted resumes are compiled and sent, (2) employers can peruse resumes whenever they want (before or after the deadline), but students can no longer submit after the deadline, or (3) employers specify what type of diversity (for lack of better phrasing) they are looking for and only get resumes that indicate a potential match? Or something else?

Edit: For example, to convey my asianness, I put an azn club. I'd otherwise feel awkward being like "PS - I AM AZN FEMALE. ME LOVE YOU LONG TIME" in my cover letter.

What's more important----section % rank cutoff, or GPA? There are some pretty wild variations amongst the sections.

GPA. The firms get the GPA cutoffs so they can gauge and it ends up being pretty fair between the sections. They have their own GPA requirements, not percentile ones.
