GPA is X.X55. Listing it as X.X6 on resume okay or not?

What? Not OP, but why would this not be ok? 3.455 should be rounded up to a 3.46, no?

No. It's not OK. GPA's should go to three decimal places and do not round up.

+1

some schools have you round up to the nearest hundredth. if that's the case, no biggie.

Check with your school's grade reporting policy. I know at my school this is considered a serious infraction of the honor code and could lead to disciplinary actions if you were caught doing so. Unless you outright state that you're rounding up (and who would do that instead of just putting their actual GPA), the only reason you would ever round is to misrepresent your grades as being higher than they are. It's fraud, plain and simple.

For us too. You'd be in serious trouble for rounding up. I would just list your gpa- it's not worth it.

Yeah, it varies by school. I was told to round to nearest hundredth.

A 3.495 is not a 3.50. The existance of GPA cutoffs is why you cannot do this.

Same here with the honor code business.

OP here. We were told to round to the nearest hundredth. I take it the recommendation would be to still play it safe and not round, correct?

You should do whatever your school tells you to do.

If your school standard is 3.XX then you should round appropriately to 3.XX from 3.XXX. Similarly, all the people clamoring for 3.XXX certainly have to round their GPA from 3.XXXX.

Why? if the school standard is 3.XX, then of course its rounded to the nearest hundredth. It's not like people say, 3.XXX (rounded to the nearest thousandth).

Can you just list like 3.60 instead of 3.608? Going all the way to 3.608 just seems desperate.

If the school says to round then round. At my school we were told to round to the hundreths but not to the tenths.

I did what the school told me to last year, which was round 3.X89 to 3.X9.
