How many resumes are you guys brining to the career fair?

Dress I would assume is business attire.

Resumes? Take as many as you know firms you plan on visiting and then take a few extra just in case.

Gearing up for tomorrow (and feeling underprepared!) whoo!

I'm going to the various panels and evening events and luncheons and such, but not the actual career fair. I'm in DC so it's easy for me to go to this. Looking forward to it, as I had lots of fun at the L.A. one last year.

Seemed like last year there was a much more active presence concerning LavLaw on TLS :(

Tomorrow is the career fair day so lots of people will be wearing ties. For other events, I don't believe there's a specific dress code, and people do tend to dress down a bit in the evenings, and especially so on the last two days of the conference (Saturday moreso than Friday).

As for me, I'm not going to the career fair, and my only pair of dress shoes is on its way back to Allen Edmonds in Wisconsin to get refurbished (my summer job ended with a hole in one of the soles), so I will be wearing nice jeans and will otherwise be casual. (Sadly, my wardrobe doesn't really do "dressy casual," so I will be in a t-shirt.)

TL;DR, wearing a tie out to Cobalt tomorrow night for the post-dinner happy hour (which you should all go to - free drinks starting at 8 PM and the main floor is reserved for Lavender Law) is more than you really need, but some people will probably still be wearing their ties from earlier, and you won't be out of place. And people will be wearing everything from street clothes to suits. How you approach it is up to you.

Since tomorrow night's happy hour (starting at 8 PM after dinner) is going to be at Cobalt, I'll describe its location now. It is at 1639 R St NW, right on the northeast corner of R St NW & 17th St NW. There's a big awning and you head down some stairs to enter the main door. You can't miss it.

It is about a 10 minute walk from the Hilton. From the Connecticut Avenue entrance, you can walk south on Connecticut to R street, and then east to 17th Street. From the T Street entrance, you can walk east on T Street and south on 17th Street to R Street.

As a DC resident I can vouch for Cobalt. Not the best club that I've ever been to, but it's fair sized, has decent music and drinks tend to be on the strong side. Not to mention that they have a free hour of vodka drinks on Fridays....

So I was planning on wearing a suit to the career fair...but from the comments on this thread...it seems like this will be a bit much?

I think the consensus was that suits might be a bit much for the NON-career fair things.

I would absolutely wear a suit for the career fair.

Yes. Definitely wear suits to the career fair. Last year everyone wore suits to that and it was in L.A.. And D.C. is certainly more formal than Southern California.

I'd like to know this as well. Also, when do we start hearing about callbacks/additional screeners?

Has anyone gotten a callback or additional screener offer yet?

I don't know about 2L callbacks or screeners, but from a 3L perspective most places that I talked to supported the consensus that staying in touch and checking back after this years offers lapsed was a good idea. November-January was the general consensus, but ReedSmith said something about checking back in May
