Doesn't Sidley have more than 20 slots for NY? Don't have my list with me. I'd move Latham up if you really want them

A bit conservative imo.

You're right; must have typed on my spreadsheet wrong.

I'm thinking of moving Latham up to 10 or 9, but that's about it. If that's the highest I'm willing to go, am I better off just dropping the firm way down?

I really have no idea, but I don't think it's outrageous to assume 38 people would bid Latham in their top 10, given the low grades relative to Vault rank and fewer slots (like Weil). I did the same with Gibson (liked them, but not enough to move into top 10, so I moved them way down). I'd swap Shearman and Latham if I were you

I don't know Penn stats, but I'd be surprised if top 25% from Penn is enough for strong consideration from Covington DC. Besides, you could probably drop them lower and still get an interview if you wanted it. I'd move them down.

Saw that one as an outlier. What is the story for wanting Ropes' Boston office?

Yeah their grade distributions are absolutely ridiculous, but I really like what they do and want a shot. Unlike Wachtell (82%) and Davis Polk (90%), only 31% of people who bid Covington got the interview last year. So I felt compelled a bit to bid them high haha. I think that's because many more people had Covington bid very low, whereas people didn't even bid Wachtell and Davis.

Dropping them to 10-14ish. Should be good enough. Won't be crushed if I don't get it. Thanks for helping me think out loud!

Any other thoughts?
