Can anyone provide me with a list of firms from Atlanta who will be participating in OCI this year?

Make sure you guys check back. As 3Ls get offers and cancel their interview schedule, those interviews will filter down and show up in Simplicity. You won't, however, get any kind of notification.

Also, e-mail any firms you didn't get expressing your interest (and include resume). I picked up several interviews this way last year...one of which ended up being a callback/offer.

23 for California.

Missed:
Nixon Peabody (2)
Bryan Cave (7)
Mofo (9)
DLA Piper (13)
Alston (24)

Also FYI, OCS told me that some firms set ratios of how many interviews to give for each office, so that's how I beat out a few of you guys for Jones Day (10)

In Google Chrome, at least, you can do print>>open pdf in preview, and that will give you a clean pdf of the page.

In Firefox, you can right click, this frame, print this frame only which works well.

You don't. The system distributes them to the next person who would have gotten them based upon their bids. If it happens closer to OCI, there will just be a blank spot on their schedule on the door and you write your name in.

On Symplicity, they have you rank the offices for each firm. When I asked OCS if the firms could see my rankings, and if not, why we would rank at all, they said that some firms will say "I want a third of my interviews to be with people who ranked our SF office first, but only 5% for someone who put Philadelphia." In that case, the SF person could get an interview over the Philadelphia person, even if the Philadelphia person ranked the firm as a whole higher. Does that make sense?

When you do this do you email the interviewers (if listed) directly or do you email the recruiting contact listed?

Always the recruiting contact. In general, the interviewers have little say in who they are interviewing. In fact, many are relatively low-level associates. The recruiting contact will run it by whoever makes the decision. (As they would at a pre-select school...which is basically what you're making this and the kind of system every firm would chose.)

Did you also include a cover letter when you e-mailed, or did you just write a short paragraph in the e-mail about why you were interested in interviewing with them?

Also, to be helpful to next year's class, I missed:

Drinker Biddle (8), Bryan Cave (10), K&L Gates (11), SNR Denton (12), Winston (20), Sidley (21), Morgan Lewis (23), Jones Day (24), Mayer Brown (25), Foley (26) (all Chicago)

I generally made the e-mail body the cover letter and just included the resume as an attachment. I'd include a transcript if you have decent to great grades. If not, its less clear whether you should but I'd think most firms would want to see it before essentially pre-selecting you.

I generally wrote a paragraph or two. I received my schedule and was disappointed I didn't get an interview...your firm is a special snowflake that I feel I would particularly fit in with...maybe a few sentences about any interesting background you have...I'd appreciate it if you could fit me into your visit while you are here.

You guys all realize that what firm you missed at what position is irrelevant to future classes right? It all depends on what markets are overbid and this varies greatly from year to year. The whole thing is an exercise in group think behavior. Lower median firms are almost always overbid but they don't always recruit for the same cities. Nor does a miss at bid 6 mean a bid 10 won't get it next year.

If everyone next year says, you can't get firm X below 5 and bids 3, then no one at 4 will get. The lower the GPA, the higher it needs to bid to have a shot. You can't really break it down much further than that.

One year Chicago is overbid and DC does well, etc. Bid where you want to work and roughly in-line with your GPA. Top 1/3 people focusing on a major market will always do better and there is little you can do about that. You may sneak in an extra interview or two by bidding high GPA firms, but most firms have some kind of hard GPA floor and it's wasted time for both parties.

Instead, focus on having the best interview you can. It only takes one callback.

Huh? They do. They tell you the dates a firm is at OCI. It's simple math from there. The problem is that different firms get vastly different numbers of bids from year to year.

Who else got Kirkland's invitation to a reception on the 23rd? I bid on two of their offices (NYC and Chicago) and am wondering if this is a firmwide reception or if it is just for a single office.

Bid Kirkland Chicago and got it. From the looks of the email, I would assume it is a firmwide reception for everyone that has a screener with them.
