VERY below median at CLS - bid list input

Post by Anonymous User » Sun Jul 01, 2012 11:08 am

Hey everyone,

Tis the season for bid list threads. I am posting a friend who is very below median at Columbia (think circa 3.0). Hopefully this thread might also assist those who are well below median at CLS, NYU, Chicago, etc.

Anyways, here is the bid list. Everything is NYC.

1. Proskauer
2. Paul Hastings
3. Schulte Roth
4. Kaye Scholer
5. Winston & Strawn
6. Stroock
7. Kramer Levin
8. Shearman & Sterling
9. Cahill
10. hogan lovells
11. Brown Rudnick
12. Bingham McCutchen
13. Dechert
14. Willkie Farr
15. Chadbourne & Parke
16. Fried Frank
17. Hughes Hubbard
18. Kasowitz Benson
19. dla piper
20. Goodwin Procter
21. Katten Muchin
22. K&L Gates
23. Freshfields
24. Kelley Drye
25. Bryan Cave
26. Curtis Mallet-Prevost
27. Holland & Knight
28. Vinson & Elkins
29. King & Spalding
30. Carter Ledyard

Relevant info:

Non-URM with no relevant WE but an advanced degree (non-IP). Strong undergrad.

Any comments? Thanks!

Freshfields ain't gonna happen. There are a few tiny class fims on here (Curtis Mallet) that might be wasted bids no matter what their historical grade cut off were. Otherwise looks pretty good.

Interested to hear anecdotes from previous years about 3.0 at CLS

Thanks! Yeah, I was sort of feeling that about Freshfields in terms of selectivity. Other firms that I feel might be too selective: Sherman?

Shearman is a wasted bid that high. Jones Day NY might actually be less selective (although that still might not be worth a bid), while Cadwalader is def so.

Pillsbury NY and Mayer Brown NY would be solid additions to the list - neither are grade snobby.

I think I would move Dechert and Bingham up and Cahill down (I think Cahill is actually pretty grade selective, but check last year's EIP results to make sure). I'd also move Katten, Hughes Hubbard and K&L above Chadbourne, which has a tiny class size.
