Thanks for the info.

Anonymous User wrote:Just struck out. Top 25%/Secondary Journal/WE from BU with 20 screeners and 3 CBs. Glad I get to be that guy.

Sorry to hear that man. If Mintz is full, it seems I've struck out in Boston too. I'm Median/Secondary Journal/URM from BC, had only 7 screeners in Boston so I didn't have much hope to begin with. Luckily I have a good chance to get a mid-law position at my home state in northern New England. Good luck to you.

Would it be insane to choose Choate over Bingham?

Choate was my top firm, but didn't get the callback. If it were me, go Choate. Really solid boston firm with really good people.

I think choosing Bingham over Choate would be nuts actually (depending on practice group I guess).

I agree. I'd choose Choate over Bingham in a heartbeat.

Well we're at it, what do people think about choosing Foley over Choate if not sure about corp/litigation?

Both great places - can't go wrong there (assuming you mean Foley Hoag, not Lardner).

I just got a rejection from Dechert (Boston) earlier this week. I have yet to hear from Bingham (Boston). Just seems kind of rude to take this long to send out a rejection letter! I can't imagine any firm is actually still considering people from the screener stage for a callback.

its looking increasingly more likely that I'm gonna strike out at OCI. 3.45 at BU, good ties, 8 screeners 5 CBs. I knew I only had an outside shot with that GPA but 5 CBs kind of got my hopes up. Hoping to find some sort of paid position next summer because I'm absolutely sick of being broke.

I'm in a similar position. My GPA is slightly below yours (less than a tenth) at BU, strong ties, relevant WE, and lots of networking. I had more screeners but only 1 CB (I think because of GPA/WE, I was probably a middling candidate). I've been told from mock interviewers of all sorts (CDO, attorneys, etc.) that I'm a great interviewer and I worked to improve on anything they said to the point that they didn't have anything more for me to change (not that I'm perfect) - with a lot of screeners and only one CB, I figured interviewing was likely the trouble. I've been mass mailing as much as possible without any real bites. I've also been going more for my contacts, because I hadn't done that enough previously.

Best of luck!

Also, I know it seems like a TON of people have offers right now, but considering most of our class does not get offers through OCI, I think it's more of a very vocal minority. (Plus, I keep hearing about the same ones over and over again.) I also know a lot of people seem to think I already have offers and I'm choosing between them (even though I've spoken with very few people and even then only generally). I know of others who people have assumed this of as well and they've confided that they also don't have anything.

Are callbacks for screeners unprecedented this late in the game?

No. I have palpitations every time I get my mail thinking it's a rejection letter from them.

So, just to be absolutely clear - did anyone at BU/BC (or anywhere else that anyone has heard of) get an offer or a rejection letter from Mintz?

I know of someone at BU/BC who accepted an offer from Mintz.
