DOJ Honors Essay Topics

Post by Anonymous User » Sat Jun 30, 2012 6:07 pm

Are the essays for DOJ Honors the same/similar for year-to-year? If so, does anyone know where to access past essay questions? The application for 2013 isn't available until the end of July.

Assuming the past two years are indicative, some combination of "Why DOJ," "Why public service," "Why this component in particular," and "Is there anything else you want to tell us about yourself?!" are guaranteed to be in play.

JusticeJackson wrote:I copied the questions from last year. Here they are:

Describe the experiences or special skills you possess which you
believe qualify you for a position as an Assistant U.S. Attorney. If
applicable, please include any significant trial experience (civil or
criminal), including the type of trial, the court, a brief description
of the case and your role, the dates involved, the disposition, and
the forum (e.g., judge, jury or arbitrator.)

What role can an Assistant U.S. Attorney play in making our society a
better place?

Why do you want to be an Assistant U.S. Attorney?

Why do you want to work for the Department of Justice and what
attracts you to the components you selected?

If you could tell the selecting official one thing about yourself,
what would it be?
Thanks, JusticeJackson. Were the first three questions different for non-AUSA positions? Or did applicants in other divisions just need to answer the latter two questions?

Believe it or not but these guys were able to help with something like this about a month ago. True it's an essay writing (LinkRemoved) service but they did a good job.

y'all, sorry to bump this, but is anyone else having trouble getting into the DOJ application? their website is ridiculous... i've tried three different browsers. i can do all the profile stuff but can't get the application itself to open.

if you got in, what browser did you use?

Thanks

The questions JusticeJackson posted are the exam questions the application asked this year.

ajax adonis wrote:Really??? Why didn't I see them. did they only ask those questions for specific components? Man, I am worried now.

Every DOJ application in the Avue thing has a page called "Working for DOJ" (or "at DOJ" or something like that) with the same two questions. First, why do you want to work at the DOJ and the particular component(s) you selected. Second, if you could tell the selecting official one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I'm not sure how you could have submitted it without seeing that screen and entering something there. I'm almost positive that Avue would not let you submit with those boxes left blank.
