Interesting that we use the terminology “callback,” while firms use “invitation.” Is this because the term callback predates email or do some firms actually call? So far 3-0 with invitations and 0 callbacks.

Callback refers to the interview format where you is it te firm for more interviews. So you have 3 invitations to do callbacks, so 3 callbacks.
