Just did a rough calculation of my ranking, and it's...not great. 1L GPA is just above a 3.0. No science background. My hometown is a large, competitive secondary market.
Obviously Big Law is out of the picture. What do I do now?
I've looked through some similar threads, and advice seems to be to mass mail, apply before/outside of OCI, and to network as much as possible.
Here are my questions:
1) How do I find firms to independently apply to?
2) Should I avoid big law firms altogether in my search?
3) How do I know which firms will take someone with my grades?
4) Everyone says "Go network," but what do I actually do? Just start emailing alumni who are Partners At Law firms? It seems presumptuous to ask them to meet me for lunch/coffee when I'm obviously angling for something.
4) Anyone have anecdotal or other advice re: getting a job with shitty grades?
Thanks.
Bottom 25%, GULC. I've read other threads, still have Q's. Forum
