if the investment in training really is the reason why ties matter, why do ties still matter for clerkships that last a finite period of time??

I know firsthand from a judge who says that he thinks ties are important because he wants to see a clerkship as an investment in someone who can someday make a contribution to the local legal community. However, not all judges feel this way, and you will find a fair number of coastal haters in flyover country clerkships.

WTF dude?

Actually, this was one of the best responses.

I know. I was trolling at first but really, analogizing to military regalia is very germane. People take care of their friends.
