What do you mean? Like having one standard one versus ones tailored to firms?

If the firm's Symplicity contact is for NY, but we're bidding the DC office, should we still use the Symplicity contact? Or should we get the DC contact from NALP?

I believe last year KD said to use the Symplicity contact -- it is likely they want everything to flow through one office initially, and will distribute it appropriately.

Perhaps Baker & McKenzie. I heard that they are trying to expand their IP group in DC. I think they just hired the leader of Venable's IP practice.

Definitely check out MoFo (Morrison & Foerster). IP litigation in DC and patent prosecution in their NOVA office. Awesome firm with very well-known, established and global IP practice.

Covington has one of the best IP practices in DC (Chambers DC band 1 and Chambers National band 2).

Thank you guys for advice on DC firms w/ IP practices.

Baker & McKenzie - I added it to my bid list per your advice.
MoFo - I was going to bid its SF office but changed it to DC office at the last minute. SF office already rejected me once at a job fair.
Covington - I already have an interview scheduled with them at a job fair.

Only three minutes left and no more changes.

I just saw the email extending bidding on public interest jobs -- if you are even slightly open to a public interest gig, I highly recommend that you bid on PI jobs.

I went into OGI last year ambivalent about the biglaw thing -- what they say about the hours is true, and while the money is great, it also (usually) requires that you live in a city where that salary actually means you are on the poor side of well-off.

Since the PI bids don't count against your 50 bids, they are free bids -- so I bid on a couple of them and got interviews with both. Though I didn't end up going the PI route for the summer, I got a chance to add two interviews I wouldn't otherwise have had, met some really interesting people who could be connections in the future, and got a glimpse at the life of a PI attorney.

Long story short: PI bids don't count against your bid total, so there is absolutely no reason not to be bidding on these employers. And bidding on them only increases your chances at having a good job your 2L summer.

Do we know if preselects will trickle-in like they did last or will they be released all at once?

"I am pleased to report that about 90% of the pre-selections and alternate selections are now in and that we are on schedule to give you access to this information in Symplicity on Saturday morning (as planned)." seems to indicate that they will all come in at once.

I think other people have pointed out though that interviews will trickle-in for a lot of people in the sense that they won't get as many preselects as they would think because firms tend to reach for students but a lot of the alternates turn into interviews and then the lottery comes through.

10:01 tomorrow.

In all seriousness, I hope we can all keep it together and not freak out like last year's thread.
