I have a question about taking the bar in different states. I'm currently a summer at an NY firm & plan on taking the NY bar exam after graduation, but I'm considering moving back to my home state in a few years & taking that state's bar when I move (I can't take it at the same time as NY, as the dates conflict). Assuming I pass in NY, would I have to retake the MBE upon taking the bar in my home state, or could I carry over my passing MBE score from NY to my home state bar exam, even if it's a few years old at that point?

Posting anon b/c I don't want the people at my firm to connect this post back to me, though I know the chances of that happening are low, and they wouldn't care anyway.

Depends on the state. Some states allow full reciprocity. Some states have none. Some states let you take an "attorneys exam" that is shorter than the real bar and may or may not include the MBE. California, for example, offers no reciprocity but lets you skip the MBE when you retake it there after five years of practice in NY.
