Volunteering for a judge before BigLaw to help clerkship app

Post by Anonymous User » Fri Jun 08, 2012 2:26 pm

Hey folks - I was told by a couple people that they helped their clerkship applications by volunteering for judges in the months before entering private practice. I'm wondering if anyone here has experience with this and how one goes about it. What's the protocol for contacting chambers? What should one say in a cover letter for a volunteer position? Any help would be much appreciated. I'm very interested in clerking but I'm not the strongest applicant - MVPB, heading to a V20, but outside of that I'm not particularly compelling. Would clerk anywhere.
