3.4 at NYU, any chance at V20
Have a 3.4x which I'm guessing is in the neighborhood of top third, maybe? Interested in NYC M&A. How aggressive of a bid list can I get away with? 6'3" athletic male with a couple years experience in marketing at a Fortune 500. Went to a top 20 undergrad. Thanks, guys!

Sorry, V1-V25 is reserved only for those below 6'1" and vaguely chubby. You're SOL.

chances of v20 assuming no major personality flaws or economic crisis, are legitimately 95%+. enjoy biglaw.WODKilla123 wrote:Have a 3.4x which I'm guessing is in the neighborhood of top third, maybe? subtlebrag or retarded. Either way, you need to make sure your personality does not get in the way at OCI. Otherwise, you are in great shapeWODKilla123 wrote:Have a 3.4x which I'm guessing is in the neighborhood of top third, maybe? Interested in NYC M&A. Not a brag. Just read a ton of posts lurking here the past few weeks that said ITE outside of the very top grades the whole middle of the curve is squishy and nothing is ever a "lock." I'm paying sticker so I'd clearly be devastated if I messed up and got left out completely by overbidding or something.

Bid on firms with big class sizes in NYC and you'll be totally fine for V20. People in your shoes strike out (to the extent they strike out at all) because they go all-in on DC or SF, not because they bid on NYC V20.

Clean cut alpha bro taller than 6'1" and lower than 12% bodyfat will get you in the door. Then, if you can bench 1.5x bodyweight, power clean at least 2x bodyweight, and squat 5x5 3x bodyweight, you're pretty much a lock for partner. HTMFH.

Wow. I guess I shouldn't have posted by height/build as it seems to have derailed the (lack of) advice I was hoping to get on where to bid. Any serious ideas on what firms should be my targets/reaches? Would really appreciate any perspective from you guys!

Sry about your tiny pink partnership chances bro. Don't hate on this kid just because he's got the height and build to be S&C-partnership-secure.rayiner wrote:What?! I'm not sure if this is your bid order, but here are a few anecdotes from my EIW experience last year:
STB was underbid, and I got DPW, Cravath, Cleary and S&C in the 20s. CWT I wouldn't bother with inside of 20. You will have to bid Kirkland, Weil and Skadden 1 or 2 to get them, unless they drastically increased the amount of interview slots this year. I lost out on Sidley had them at 10ish (I think they had around 60 interview slots). I schmoozed my way into interviews at JD and Fried Frank (didn't bid either).
Also, your height will matter inasmuch as it is indicative of your interview skills. Your undergrad means jack shit unless you went to HYP or have a B.S. in a hard science and are IP-bound (which you are not).

Can you talk about how you "schmoozed" your way into 2 interviews? Just showing up and... what?Anonymous User wrote:WODKilla123 wrote:All flaming aside, can I get some real quick advice on my bidlist. (Bay Area native)
