Is it ok to say that I would like to return to that area after graduation to practice even though I wasn't born there & moved somewhere far away during high school?

What if I have strong ties (high school, college, lived there for 15 years) in a major market but my family no longer lives there? I mean my resume has the college and 1 other job that is relevant in the city, but other than that I can't really put my high school down or anything so do I just mention that I grew up in the area and hope they dont think I am lying?
