As I suggested above. My question is very specific for a series of reasons. Others have given a range of useful advice. This question is not helpful. I want to know what I can do to maximize my chances. Yes, my odds aren't fantastic. I would rather not get big law than get NY big law.

I appreciate that you may think you are being helpful, but you're not. I know a ton of people in "mid law" and "shit law" situations. I can get another job in DC if I fail at big law. My partner's industry doesn't really exist in NY. If you have useful advice, like folks like Desert Fox, I'd appreciate it. If your advice is you'll probably fail, I hope you feel encouraged to not post.
