If you could, please!somewhatwayward wrote:when i mass mailed last year, i put my (very short) cover letter in the body of the email and then attached my resume and my transcript as two separate PDFs. I got two or three callbacks out of maybe 20 or 30 mass mails. I don't think you need to send a writing sample unless asked, and I think short cover letter in body of email is fine. I can post what my cover letter email said if you want to see an example.mr_toad wrote:Many recommend doing them together. I've done all separate. Got all excited because I got a call from Washington, D.C. Turned out it was a recruiter confirming an off-campus program interview.

yeah, i pretty much check my phone every 2-3 minutes, same with my school email (even though its set to import to gmail, i don't trust the 30-45 minute delay)....this is driving me crazy.Anonymous User wrote:Got all excited because I got a call from Washington, D.C. Re: Summer 2013 Non-OCI Job Hunt (Mass Mail, Job Fairs, etc)
So I'm moving on to a secondary market I think I have ties to. My mom and little brother moved to said market about 4-5 years ago. Im planning on changing my resume etc to list their address as mine but do I need to include something in my cover letter about "xyz town feels like home to me now - this is where I want to end up"?
Also, is "my mommy lives there" a legit enough "tie" to a secondary market?
FYI, non Chicago, fairly big midwestern market.

In my experience in a fairly big non chicago midwestern market, yes. you need to emphasize ties and be ready to defend those ties in interviews. i constantly get asked if i really want to return to this market since i went to ug and law school out of the area, even though my parents still live there and i worked there for half of my summer.adammac17 wrote:So I'm moving on to a secondary market I think I have ties to. Got a CB through mass mailing. Told them I transferred to a school where they do visit for OCI. Was told to try to get a screener with them at OCI instead.

Is there a decent topic floating around on TLS about the process of mass-mailing? Resume Launchpad looks extremely useful, but I'd like a little more info on what to put in my packet, the process, etc.

sorry for a silly question, but do you guys list journal under "Honor" or "Activities?" I currently have it under activities, but someone's recently told me to list it under honor. Now, I am not sure what is the proper way to display it.
