I was told in one of my reviews that they were concerned with my initial work product, but that I am improving.

How screwed am I for getting an offer?

How were your other reviews? Is it possible the reviewer was just a little aspies?

Didn't get into specifics, but I suppose some good, some bad. Has me really worried, in what is supposed to be a law student's "best summer" he or she will ever experience.

I certainly expected this is in biglaw, but it's worse when you're actually doing it.

I enjoy the adversarial process of litigation very much. And the tedious work supporting the process is palatable.

Same. I really like the work so far. I can't imagine better work as an associate than "Here are the facts. I'm trying to win this case or at least figure out if I need to push the client to settle. Find out if the plaintiff's theory makes any sense and if we have any counterclaims."

This firm is awesome.

It's a necessary process of learning. You don't know how to do anything more advanced. Once you "graduate" from it, you'll be drafting key provisions of a merger agreement, if not the whole damn thing (with input from specialists). Once you graduate from that, you'll be negotiating key provisions of the merger agreement and editing someone else's first draft of it. Once you graduate from that, you'll be negotiating the most key provisions of a deal and making sure everyone below you puts that in place.

It's really hard to see the forest for the trees when you're changing "corporation" to "limited liability company" in a resolution. The thing that should keep you motivated, and that keeps me motivated, is looking at what people more senior to me do and seeing where what you do falls in the bigger picture.

This is good advice. It makes the drudgery worth it!!

Hypothetically, if someone were thinking about moving firms, when would they start massmailing? July? August? I don't really want to sit on my offer but I do want to put out feelers.

Ditto here! Anxiety level over my less than stellar 2nd semester grades have vanished. Better yet, get to avoid the entie OCI hassle!

Wasn't OP talking about 2L SAs? Is it the case that your 1L SA is a guaranteed post-grad offer regardless of all of your grades after first semester of 1L year?

Mid size firm law clerk here. Somehow, I downloaded a virus onto my computer today. No, I was not looking at porn. No, I did not download Skyrim. This was actually in the course of doing work.

That's why I enjoy the lit work I am doing so much. I do actual, real legal shit and don't just scan documents. I've never done a second of doc review on the job.

Yeah, they must deal with this like four times a day with 60-year-old partners who click on every pop-up ad thinking, "Me? I won?!"
