I figured this would be helpful for those of us who will be going to firms in the next couple weeks but have no idea what we are doing.

Feel free to post about your anxiety, tips for dealing with stress, tips for how to prepare, or whatever else you think will be helpful.

No need to prepare substantively. Just relax, be confident, try to meet as many people at the firm as possible, and submit quality work product ON TIME. It's not that difficult. Over thinking invariably leads to unnecessary stress.

This quote pretty much sums up my law school experience so far.

It's okay to be nervous. But if you don't have an awesome summer, you're doing it wrong.

Dammit, Shoe! I wanted to start a thread like this for SA 2012!!

So excited! Just went on a shopping spree for business casual clothing. I start on Monday at 9am!

When does everyone else start?

I am at a very reputable firm, but I started working part time during the school year for market level, part time clerk wages. During the summer, they expect me to continue as hourly wage instead of weekly salary, and that puts be below market. This makes me very nervous.

Wow. Doesn't that cut into school?

Or do you go to Chicago or somewhere on a quarter system?

Relatively calm about Monday, orientation ought to be NBD compared to when the assignments start rolling in. On the other hand, oooooh man. Can't hide behind test scores and talent this time, and I haven't played for keeps since 1L fall :?

I'm glad it sounds like a lot of people are starting early. Hopefully you'll be able to give us late-starters some tips about the first week!

I start the 29th as well.

Not sure how anxious to be, or how excited. Either way, looking forward to actually getting some cash flowing in again.

Start in about a week. Haven't used westlaw or lexis consistently since 1L spring. Damn you theoretical law school courses/exams. Pretty sure I am incapable of performing cost effective research. Or research of any sort. Does this mean I get no offered?

/post-finals blackout

Hey guys, what's this thread all about? Nervous up in this bizzle? Nah, we got this!
