It's not about being conservative. It's about being stupid enough to show zealotry for any political topic on either side of the spectrum. That just shows bad judgment.

Unless you are in politics, there is absolutely and unequivocally no reason to express any political affiliations at your place of work. So stop bitching about it.

I wouldn't leave any political groups on your resume, including fedsoc. ITE unless you are top third you are probably only getting 2-4 call backs. And each of those are a 50/50 shot, at best. If even one person you interview finds it objectionable and it unconsciously biases them, you increase your strike out chances.

You never put something on your resume unless you think it will increase your chances of getting the job. Being on FedSoc (or the liberal ACS) isn't going to help. So why put it.

There are some situations it might help (conservative or liberal judges for clerk apps) but for the most part, it's a risk with no reward.

And before some assholes bitches about "hiding who they are" it's a fucking resume, not your memoirs. It's about selling you, not about who you are. You aren't putting down that your fav. activity is jacking off to gay porn then feeling shameful are you? So leave off the political stuff.

Oh. You actually know what resume item is causing you not to be hired, and yet you continue to use it? You're not being discriminated against on the basis of race, gender, or politics. You're being discriminated against on the basis of your exceedingly poor judgment.

I decided to be helpful.

Reminders:

1. The only proper use of the Anonymous function in this thread is to reveal personal information relevant to the topic (e.g., if you felt discriminated against in some specific hiring process).

2. This will probably become a shitshow, regardless of what I say, but at least attempt to discuss the narrow topic (i.e., "do you think legal employers are less likely to hire a white, conservative male?"), not some broader, verboten bullshit (e.g., "DEY TOOK R JERBS. Help, help, I'm being oppressed.")

not to be a backseat moderator, but it'd be more helpful if you just deleted all the non-DF responses in the thread

Pretty sure I got hired at my firm because of my more conservative views on some things. But the interviewing attorney brought up politics, not me.

I don't agree with OP at all, but this seems to be the typical lib response even when there is something wrong with a policy or practice.

Oh Jesus Christ get over yourself. The 'typical lib response' thing is just tired.

Although I agree with the OP that there is probably some political discrimination both ways I hardly think conservative white males are in danger of becoming extinct in the legal world.

What are you even talking about?

Just because the comment is (sarcastically) not in favor of white males doesn't automatically make it a 'lib' response.

And I agree with not leaving politically identifiable activities on your resume - it's like not deleting pictures of you getting wasted on your FB page - why take the risk?

Depends, if his only job was 10 years of working at Focus on the Family, he probably has to put it down just to not cause people to wonder.

But if this is about putting Campus Crusade for Christ on your resume, the OP is a retard.
