2L Summer Associate Cell Phone
just wondering if you get issued a cell phone/blackberry as a summer associate?

This info is almost always available on firm websites. Biglaw associates generally get a firm phone but may choose to use their own.

They'll want a way to get ahold of you via e-mail at all times. So the flow chart looks like this for most firms, from what I've read and experienced:
Have a smart phone that can be run with firm's e-mail set-up? (usually BlackBerry or iPhone)
If yes --> they'll hook up their e-mail system to your phone so they can reach you via e-mail at 4 a.m.
If no --> they'll give you a BlackBerry for the summer but you'll only have e-mail access on it. You'll keep your own personal non-smartphone for calls.
