Yea, that's what I read it too. I was unclear.r6_philly wrote:That's not how I read it. I included only because it's an SA at a big boutique in my area. Didn't include any description, just said it was an upcoming summer SA.Anonymous User wrote:you guys all including your summer job this year in your resume? did you include any description of tasks?
For firms that have locations in SF and SV both, and only allow app at one, any advice on which to bid for EECS? Just look at see which is more heavy for people with EECS background?

Usually the EE/CS stuff, especially in prosecution, is in Silicon Valley (a suburban wasteland), but there are a few exceptions.clintone88 wrote:I included only because it's an SA at a big boutique in my area. I stayed at this place in '10 for $100 a night, but it looks like the rates have gone way up.
--LinkRemoved--
its down the street from the Hancock building and about a 5 min cab ride to the embassy suites. maybe you can find a deal somewhere.

PSA: Last year, PLIP participants got a discount at the Doubletree Magnificent Mile. I can't remember when it was announced, but I believe it was after pre-selects started showing up. So if you're thinking about booking a room early, be warned that you might jump the gun on a group rate somewhere.

If you want to book early, be cognizant of hotel cancellation policies. It may come to pass (and I don't wish this upon anyone) that you don't get any interviews, in which case you may deem it not worthwhile to show up in Chicago for the program. You'll be kicking yourself if you've paid for a hotel and cannot get a refund. The same thing also applies for flights.
In terms of choosing hotels, I stayed here last year. http://www.redroof-chicago-downtown.com/ It wasn't glorious by any means, but it was cheap at hotels.com, and it was only 2.5 blocks from the Embassy Suites.

True. I stayed with 3 other people in a room and payed less than 100 total for 3 nights at the Doubletree.Agent wrote:PSA: Last year, PLIP participants got a discount at the Doubletree Magnificent Mile. For 2Ls:
We received an email from Loyola indicating Mayer Brown's Chicago office was not interviewing anymore, and they were removed from the bid list.
They have changed their mind, and are now back on the bid list.
Should this "flip-flopping" be of any concern? My thought would be that if they were unsure last week of whether or not to come to PLIP, are they even worth bidding on?

They decided to come back for a reason. I dunno. If you aiming for Chicago, why not. If you are just looking for good firms, I'd find somewhere else to bid.Anonymous User wrote:For 2Ls:

They really wanted Chicago ties two years ago. If you're just looking for filler bids, why not. But my screener was a pretty big waste of 20 minutes for all involved.

Does this mean I should not bid on Mayer Brown's Chicago office if I run out of bids? Also, should I bid on chemical firms with a bio background?wiseowl wrote:They really wanted Chicago ties two years ago. If you're just looking for filler bids, why not. How seriously should we take the patent bar requirement? Is it a requirement or more of a preference?

Ah I misread it, it simply says patent bar eligible...which makes me wonder how firms can have a list of engineering backgrounds and not have a patent bar eligibility requirement.soccerfreak wrote:How seriously should we take the patent bar requirement? Is it a requirement or more of a preference?

would it be safe to say that firms indicating patent bar eligible are looking more for prosecution people?

Some majors are not auto eligible like CS.soccerfreak wrote:Ah I misread it, it simply says patent bar eligible...which makes me wonder how firms can have a list of engineering backgrounds and not have a patent bar eligibility requirement.soccerfreak wrote:How seriously should we take the patent bar requirement? Some stuff is put up there just for redundancy and saying the same thing over and over because they have to say it twice or more and it covers overlapping subjects, which is redundant.r6_philly wrote:Litigation? So then I still don't know who wants pros and who wants lit. I guess I will just go by firms.turbotong wrote: Some stuff is put up there just for redundancy and saying the same thing over and over because they have to say it twice or more and it covers overlapping subjects, which is redundant.

Sometimes, those requirements were submitted by staff, and those staff just submitted what they are asked.soccerfreak wrote:Ah I misread it, it simply says patent bar eligible...which makes me wonder how firms can have a list of engineering backgrounds and not have a patent bar eligibility requirement.soccerfreak wrote:How seriously should we take the patent bar requirement? How low would one's GPA need to be before deciding not to include it on the resume? I have a few highly desired credentials on my resume, but GPA is not one of them.

I think you should put it in? (I'm 1L though). But put the education stuff on 2nd page, or just shift it down?omnomnom wrote:How low would one's GPA need to be before deciding not to include it on the resume? I have a few highly desired credentials on my resume, but GPA is not one of them.

Law GPA or UGPA?
Dunno about the former, but I'd imagine below 3.0 = don't put it for UGPA.
