Loyola Patent Fair 2012

Post by ehshornet » Fri Apr 06, 2012 1:23 am

So, I was curious to see if I could use my Symplicity password from last year to log on, and I was able to see the list of firms for the program this summer and their requirements! I am happy to see that there are a bunch of firms looking at 3Ls!

Are any of these firms not going? I'm a 2L who worked at a patent firm but wants to interview with one of these firms if they're going:
Kirkland Ellis
Weil Gotshal
Wilmer Hale
Finnegan
Fish
Irell Manella
McDermott Will Emery
Sidley Austin
Orrick

Is the list longer than last year's?

Why do we have to wait 2 more weeks?

Did anyone have success in finding internships last year?

There is a list of 68 places you can bid on, but some of them are the same firm for multiple offices. I know, I think it said on Symplicity that employers had until the 2nd to get the early registration fee. I will post the firms up later. I tried copying and pasting and the formating is really bad. I'm currently at work, and I also have a big paper to write. I will try to get them up this evening/weekend.

The patent prosecution job that I currently have was obtained through interviewing through the fair...Well kind of...They put me on their alternate list because they said they would interview me throguh OCI. I ended up getting off the alternate list at loyola, but I had another interview scheduled. So, I just interviewed with them in September.

I am curious to hear if any rising 3Ls who had success.

Thanks! Bidding window is right in the middle of our exams, if I could get the list of firms/offices I can do some research before then. Appreciated!

They no-offered like 60% of their class of 2010. It seems unlikely to happen again, but hey, you never know.

These firms have indicated that they are 'interested in interviewing 3Ls', which is not the same as 'they will certainly hire 3Ls'.

Last year there were a TON of firms that were present at the program, 30 of which interviewed 3Ls. Here is a list of all the employers. --LinkRemoved-- As an interviewing 3L, I don't have access to the firms which indicated that they wish to interview 2Ls.

On top of the screeners going on in the hotel during PLIP, there were 2 networking events at night and there were a number of firms (8-10) which held "hospitality suites" designed to be a place to get questions answered about that firm, to establish a relationship with the recruiter present in the room, and to drop off your resume/business card. If you like to schmooze, then these are great opportunities.

yeah, my post was unclear. I was hoping you would have access to this year's list. Were you there last year? If so, I want to ask a question on how to strategize bids at loyola, other fairs and my school's OCI since some of the firms here will be at my school's OCI.

Are there many firms attending that are looking for people that are not qualified for the patent bar?

Don't bid on firms at PLIP if you are sure you can interview with them at OCI. No firm wants to interview you twice. That said, if you want to get the jump on your OCI and interview with the firm at PLIP instead, then by all means bid. But don't go in expecting to interview at both events.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
