Biglaw start dates c/o 2011

Postby Anonymous User » Tue Feb 07, 2012 1:29 pm

Is there anywhere that compiles a list of the official start dates of biglaw firms? I haven't been able to find any except scattered throughout the comment section of ATL. Do firms sometimes put it on their webpages?

No one appeared to put firm names in that thread and so few posts. It would be nice if someone made an easy way to access this, similar to what G.T.L. is doing for clerkships, and maybe a chart format to easily view it.

Why is this information important? You can only work for one firm, it's not like the start dates of other firms will influence yours much, if at all.

If you're using start date to filter firms for OCI, that is pretty stupid.

Op here. Well I only want my firm's previous start dates (not announced but actual start dates) and don't want to call and ask. Lots of people are probably like me.

And actually it would be a somewhat good filter during OCI. If firm A deferred a 2011 until 2013 (I don't think this is happening anymore) and firm B started 2011 in Oct of 2011. Well that would be a huge difference. In the aggregate a lot of firms would fit into firm A and a lot into firm B. Avoiding firm Bs would be a sensible decision if all other things are close to being equal, which in lockstep biglaw is pretty true. It certainly isn't stupid.
