totally agree. I have info on the clerks in a circuit, but I'd rather send it through a throw-away.

Hey G.T.L. Rev, any chance you can find some Fed Circuit info? It seems like that knowledge is really hard to come by elsewhere.

So I'm sitting here looking at the materials I've gathered on my own to get ready to apply to clerkships, wondering whether I want to send it into your site. As I think about it more and more, I'm not sure it is to my advantage.

Feel free not to answer this, but is your intention with this site to contribute to the implosion of the clerkship hiring system? Would you have wanted a site like this when you were applying to clerkships? I expect this will reduce some of the effects of top schools' law reviews having great resources on clerkships to the exclusion of others. Is that your intention?

So on your SDNY post, you say 3 judges are currently hiring for 2013-14 via OSCAR. Yet I don't even have a "Judges" sub-tab under "Search For Positions" available. Nor does searching for their name find them.

So I need to dump my classification on OSCAR in order to be able to see judges that are currently hiring people in my classification?

Edit - yes, I do. That's stupid. OSCAR requires you to identify your expected graduation date, so I set it to this year instead of next. But now won't any potential applications be wrong? Or does no one pay attention to what is on the OSCAR profile?

But what about those judges that are currently hiring for a start date in Fall of 2013 (when I am looking to start)...that would be off-plan, so send a paper copy, correct?

Indeed. But there are a LOT of judges that are "currently accepting" applications for starting in 2013. I was surprised at how many...your post about the hiring plan imploding is spot-on.

You posted that in the "Clerk Taking Q's" thread and I checked it out. Seems like a great idea (even though I don't need to worry about COA judges)

I suppose one final question - in the judge's information tab, they indicate preferred class ranking, etc. Are they like law firms and only kinda-sorta abide by that, or do they hold pretty firm to that line?

I don't know if I've said this yet, but you're the greatest human being since Raoul Wallenberg.

Thanks for doing this! I noticed that you're missing Judge Berzon on the Ninth Circuit. One of her clerks, a Boalt grad, is clerking for Ginsburg this term (OT 2011). He was also a Bristow, I believe.

N.D. Cal., N.D. Ill., E.D. Pa., E.D. Va., and D. Conn. would all be phenomenal.

I assume you get OSCAR updates, but in case you don't, Judge Haynes of the 5th Circuit COA in Dallas just opened an application for the 2013-14 term, and she's going off-plan it looks like. Apps accepted from yesterday until June 1 of 2012.

This is probably a noobish question, but where do you see the list of judges with "available" on OSCAR? All I see is positions for staff attorneys on the drop down bar.

Dumb question... how do you know which judges only look at alumni?

They often say so on OSCAR. Others just develop a reputation for it.

1. Make an OSCAR account for your goldfish.
2. Tell OSCAR the goldfish is 2009 grad.
3. ???
4. PROFIT!

But... I don't have a goldfish...
