Am I too late?

Post by Anonymous User » Fri Jan 06, 2012 1:09 pm

I'm a 1L and I have not applied to any jobs yet, I am registered to some career fairs.

Just wondering if it's hopeless and whether its still possible to get summer employment?

Of course. A lot of people don't get their jobs until March or April. Smaller firms and companies don't even start looking for 1ls until then. Don't ever think it's too late and just resign yourself to not having work for the summer. It is absolutely essential that you get some kind of legal work over the summer. Keep applying for jobs until you get one.

lol of course its not too late. it might be a LITTLE late for biglaw but the odds of landing a 1L SA are so slim anyway that i wouldn't worry about it. career fairs are fine and all, but you should start a mailing campaign if you haven't already. the real benefit to getting applications out there early and wrapping up summer employment in january is not that it will be too late by march, but that you won't have to worry about it all semester and you can focus on class.
