Don't forget that there are quite a few paid in-house gigs out there. I don't know how firms view them, but I have to imagine it's better than judicial externship.

A lot of judges don't hire interns as clerk and/or won't write them recommendations, so YMMV with those.

TLS mods are really great. I like how they ban OP for a mildly offensive statement, YET A TLS MODERATOR WENT UNPUNISHED FOR JOKING ABOUT RAPING AND IMPREGNATING A FOURTEEN YEAR OLD GIRL. "if it bleeds it breeds bro!!"

nothing better than having the mods turn into the PC police / thought police.

I can't speak for OP, but I'm definitely looking for some sort of litigation. Are Judicial Internships/Externships really the only option left open for potential litigators who strike out?IAFG wrote:Don't forget that there are quite a few paid in-house gigs out there. Wouldn't it be better to work, paid or unpaid, for a tiny law firm? And aren't small law firms on a much later hiring cycle (like March)? When you say "struck out," do you just mean of OCI?Anonymous User wrote:I can't speak for OP, but I'm definitely looking for some sort of litigation. I guess I mean strike out as in biglaw (both OCI and mailings). So while smaller firms might still be hiring, would that look better for a potential clerking candidate than a judicial internship?IAFG wrote:Wouldn't it be better to work, paid or unpaid, for a tiny law firm? Especially when they know that it will hijack the thread into a debate about them being the thought police. And to think, this thread could have actually been helpful.

Smaller firms hire well into April. Don't use hope, start networking/sending out applications now.

The minute I read OP's post, I knew the ultra-PC police would be out in full force. Funny thread derail though.
