If you know any firm ANYWHERE that's still hiring, post ITT
Note the tone of desperation.
While you may be tempted to tell me "call around recruiting contacts and ask yourself," I've tried that, and roughly .29% of these people pick up the phone when you call them. I'm desperately reaching out to my school's alumni at various firms as well, but so far to no avail.
If you know of anyone still hiring, tell me and I will send them an application within 30 minutes of your post, and offer you profuse thanks.

Tons of smaller firms, at least here in the D/FW area, won't even start looking at summer people until the beginning of 2012.

Mayer Brown DC is looking for an SA interested in tax. Freshfields London is hiring American SAs; they didn't get anyone to accept their offers. Pepper Hamilton in Princeton, NJ is hiring. Supposedly no one has accepted an offer at Goodwin Procter NY, and they're still looking, but that may be just a rumor.

Is OP looking for a 2L summer gig? If so, note that Horvitz typically does not hire full time associates from their summer class, and usually only makes offers to fresh graduates if they've done a federal appellate clerkship.Anonymous User wrote:What do you mean by contact the 9th Cir. partner?dood wrote:Horvitz & Levy

I went into Lowenstein a couple of weeks ago and got the impression they were pretty filled by that point; felt like I was pretty much at the end of their interviewing schedule. But it's certainly possible I was wrong and people may be running into NALP deadlines and dropping them at this juncture.Anonymous User wrote:try lowenstein sandler NJ and pillsbury NY, not 100% sure if they still are but would be worth the time to apply

That's pretty surprising about Freshfields. They're easily the most stable UK firm after Slaughter & May, and are the best of the Magic Circle.Anonymous User wrote:Mayer Brown DC is looking for an SA interested in tax. Curious, why would a UK firm be interested in hiring Americans? You're not familiar with the law in London. What would an american associate be doing?Fresh Prince wrote:That's pretty surprising about Freshfields. Does this mean I'd have to specify that I want to do corporate work? That's fine; I'm just asking.Fresh Prince wrote:M&Anewyorker88 wrote:Curious, why would a UK firm be interested in hiring Americans? You're not familiar with the law in London. I'm pretty sure there's almost nothing in "litigation" aside from international arbitration for American lawyers at international offices, short of getting a masters at local law school and getting licensed to practice in that country.

Freshfields London does more capital markets than M&A, at least with their American attorneys. But, yes, only corporate in London (or anywhere else abroad).Anonymous User wrote:Does this mean I'd have to specify that I want to do corporate work? "We are recruiting up to six second year law students who are interested in working in our US Corporate Group, the core of the pre-eminent capital markets practice in London, focusing on IPOs, rights issues, high yield, other debt offerings and the US aspects of cross-border public mergers & acquisitions. The US Corporate Group currently has five partners, one counsel, and 14 associates."
